To enroll in a PADI Open Water Referral course (or Junior Open Water Referral course), you must be 10 years old or older. You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health. No prior experience with scuba diving is required.
The PADI Open Water Referal course consists of two main phases with us here at Core94 the third phases being the Open Water dives are done on your next overseas holiday.
Knowledge Development (online, independent study or in a classroom) to understand basic principles of scuba diving.
5 x Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills, these are done on our Friday evening pool sessions.
4 x Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore!, these are completed on your nextt overseas holiday and are chargable from that local PADI Dive Centre.

For our Open wAter Course students our pool sessions are held every Friday evening and start at 6.30pm and we normally finish around 10.30pm back at the diving centre.
On arrival at the centre you will be given a shorty introduction to Scuba Diving & safety brief in the Scuba Centres classroom at 35 Waterloo Quay, AB11 5BS.
From here we make our way to RGU Sports Centre in the Garthdee area of Aberdeen, AB10 7QB.
Enroll in Open Water Diver Online – PADI’s eLearning option – start now. PADI Open Water Diver Online gives you the background information you need to dive safely and allows you to study at your own pace through an interactive computer-based program.
You can also start learning with PADI’s home-study materials – Open Water Diver TouchTM (a tablet app) or the Open Water Diver Manual and Open Water Diver Video (a book and DVD package) which we sell at Core94 Watersports. You now just need to come into Core94 Watersports to enroll in the course, get your materials and start reading the book and watching the video. Your Core94 PADI Instructor will schedule time with you to check your progress and make sure you understand important scuba diving information.
Your PADI Pro will organise all your basic scuba gear you’ll use including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device (BCD), dive gauges and a scuba cylinder.
For pool sessions you need to bring a swimming costume, a towel and ideally an old t-shirt or rash vest to wear in the pool. If you have your own wetsuit already then bring it along as you are welcombe to wear it.

You will complete all five pool sections plus we will guide you through as much of the academic work as we can.
